Continuous Lubricating Oil Purification

Two GreenOil WP1-P3-1500 filtration systems have been installed for the lubricating oil. The systems continuously treat the lubricating oil, helping to keep it clean through ongoing filtration.

Continuous lubricating oil filtration means that the oil is treated as part of the vessel’s normal operation, without purification depending on separate treatment processes. For newbuild vessels, the filtration system can therefore be integrated into the engine room’s overall lubricating oil treatment solution.

Lubricating Oil Purification and Diesel Filtration Onboard SUNBEAM

Onboard SUNBEAM, Myklebust Verft Newbuild 79, Ditech has supplied filtration systems for continuous purification of both lubricating oil and diesel. The delivery includes two GreenOil WP1-P3-1500 units for lubricating oil purification and one WP1-C5-2000 unit for diesel fuel polishing. The systems are designed for continuous operation, providing ongoing filtration of oil and fuel onboard.

Diesel Fuel Polishing

SUNBEAM is also equipped with a GreenOil WP1-C5-2000 diesel filtration system. The diesel is continuously circulated through the filtration system and returned to the fuel system.

This process, commonly known as fuel polishing, is used to maintain fuel quality over time. Onboard SUNBEAM, the system is designed as a permanent installation and provides continuous treatment of the diesel fuel.

Filter and Water Monitoring

The diesel filtration system is equipped with an alarm that indicates when the filter needs to be replaced. The system also features automatic water drainage.

This reduces the need for manual monitoring of the filtration process and makes it easier for the crew to monitor the system status during operation.

Filtration Systems for Newbuilds and Existing Vessels

Filtration of lubricating oil, diesel and MGO is relevant both when designing newbuild vessels and when upgrading existing vessels. The system is sized according to factors such as oil type, system volume, required capacity and how the oil or fuel is to be circulated.
