UV water treatment certified for food production
Ditech has supplied a UV water treatment certified for food production to a Norwegian food producer as part of a complete water treatment solution. The system is designed for a capacity of 240 m³/hour and helps ensure stable and safe water quality throughout the production process.
How UV disinfection of process water works
Ditech has supplied a UV water treatment certified for food production to a Norwegian food producer as part of a complete water treatment solution. The system is designed for a capacity of 240 m³/hour, ensuring stable and safe water quality throughout production.
UV disinfection exposes water to UV-C light (200–280 nm), which disrupts the DNA of bacteria, viruses, and other microorganisms, rendering them inactive and unable to reproduce. The process is entirely chemical-free and leaves no residues in the water—a key advantage for food production.
Why UV is a sustainable solution
UV disinfection is an environmentally responsible alternative to chemical treatment. It consumes minimal energy, generates no by-products, and provides consistent performance without impacting the environment. This makes UV a forward-looking solution for the food industry, meeting increasingly strict hygiene and sustainability standards.
Did you know?
The effectiveness of UV treatment can be reduced by UV shadowing. This occurs when particles in the water create shadows, allowing bacteria or viruses to avoid exposure to UV light. Proper pre-filtration is therefore essential before the water undergoes UV treatment.
User-friendly control panel
The UV system comes with a modern control panel that allows for easy monitoring and management of the system. The panel provides real-time information on operation, status, and any alerts, offering both reliability and ease of use in daily operations.
Part of a comprehensive water treatment solution
The UV system represents the second stage in a larger delivery from Ditech to the customer. The first stage included food safe self cleaning filters, while the final stage consists of a High Flow filter for enhanced process safety and optimal operation.
With over 30 years of experience in filtration and water treatment, Ditech delivers complete solutions that combine technical precision, operational reliability, and sustainability—always with a focus on ensuring safe water quality in food production.
Benefits of UV water treatment in the food industry
Integrating UV disinfection into process water treatment provides food producers with several key advantages:
- Safe water quality – reduces microbiological risk in production
- Stable operation – designed for 240 m³/hour capacity
- Chemical-free process – no additives or residues in the water
- Environmentally friendly solution – low energy consumption and sustainable operation
- Effective complement to filtration – enhances overall water treatment safety
An investment in sustainability and the environment
UV disinfection is an energy-efficient and chemical-free method for water treatment. The system ensures stable water quality without introducing residues or environmentally harmful chemicals. This results in lower environmental impact, reduced operating costs, and a solution that supports both safety and sustainability in food production.
