How Does Ditech Support Emergency Preparedness in the Norwegian Fishing Industry?
When a critical filter needs to be replaced, delivery time is crucial. Through systematic mapping, a large Norwegian stockholding and long-term supplier partnerships, Ditech helps strengthen supply security and emergency preparedness across the Norwegian fishing industry.
Short version
- Mapping critical filters helps ensure that we stock the products our customers actually need.
- A large Norwegian inventory provides high availability and short lead times when demand arises.
- Proven supply reliability and long-term supplier partnerships help strengthen preparedness across the Norwegian fishing industry.
For the fishing fleet, operational reliability is essential. When a vessel is kept at the quay because a required filter is unavailable, the consequences can be significant, both financially and operationally. Preparedness therefore involves much more than simply keeping products in stock. It means knowing which filters are critical, ensuring they are available when needed, and working with suppliers that can provide reliable deliveries over time.
At Ditech, we strengthen preparedness through three key areas:
- Mapping the customer’s filter requirements
- A large Norwegian inventory with high availability
- Suppliers with proven delivery reliability
We Know Which Filters Are Critical
A large inventory does not provide preparedness unless the right filters are actually available.
Through many years of cooperation with Norwegian shipowners and service workshops, we map which filters are used on each individual vessel and which of them are critical. We do this using purchasing history, filter maps, the customer portal and close dialogue with the customer.
This knowledge enables us to plan our inventory far more effectively than if we were to rely only on individual orders. The customer portal has become one of our most important tools in this work. Here, customers can access an overview of their own filters, service intervals and filter maps, while we can help ensure that the most critical filters are always available.

A Norwegian Inventory Enables Faster Response
The pandemic demonstrated how vulnerable global supply chains can be. For us, it confirmed that investing in a large Norwegian inventory was the right strategy. Since the COVID-19 pandemic, we have moved into new premises at Borgeskogen, increased our storage capacity by approximately 70 percent and doubled the value of our inventory from around NOK 9 million to NOK 18 million.

Today, we stock more than 75,000 filters across over 8,000 different variants, enabling us to respond quickly when our customers need replacements.
For the fishing industry, this means shorter waiting times and greater predictability when a filter needs to be replaced.

Preparedness in Practice
Through many years as a filter supplier to the maritime market, we have experienced several situations where customers have had an urgent need for critical filters.
It is in situations like these that we see the value of a customer-specific emergency stock. When we know our customers’ requirements and have critical filters available in stock, we can quickly identify the correct filter and get it to the customer. On several occasions, this has meant express delivery or personal delivery because that was the fastest solution.
For urgent requirements outside our regular opening hours, we also provide a 24/7/365 emergency phone service.

Suppliers Focused on Supply Reliability
Preparedness also depends on which manufacturers you choose to work with.
Over many years, we have selected suppliers with proven quality, reliable delivery performance and short supply chains. A large proportion of our products come from European manufacturers, reducing vulnerability when international logistics chains are disrupted.
This provides both us and our customers with greater confidence that critical filters can still be delivered when market conditions are uncertain.

Preparedness Is Built Before It Is Needed
Preparedness is not only about what happens when a crisis occurs – it is built long before.
For us, this means investing in warehouse capacity, developing digital tools together with our customers, mapping critical filters and working with suppliers we can rely on. When these elements work together, we can help ensure that the Norwegian fishing industry has access to the filters it actually needs – even in uncertain times.
