High Flow filter housing with high capacity and absolute filtration
Ditech has supplied a High Flow filter housing with 40″ filter elements with absolute filtration rating to a Norwegian food producer. The solution is designed for two production lines and filters down to 1 micron to protect the UV system before the water continues to the food production process.
Technical features and capacity
The High Flow filter housing is configured with two parallel lines, providing both flexibility and redundancy in production. The system is designed for high flow rates, with filtration down to 1 micron.
The absolute filter elements ensure that particles larger than 1 micron are retained, keeping the water clean and free from particles that could create UV shadowing. This protects the water before it enters the UV treatment stage, where microorganisms and particles smaller than 1 micron are inactivated. After this process, the water is ready for use in food production.
Key features:
- Two parallel lines for high capacity and secure operation
- Absolute elements for precise filtration down to 1 micron
- Robust protection of the UV system
Did you know?
A single 40″ High Flow element can replace up to 8–10 standard 10″ filter cartridges. This results in fewer replacements, lower inventory requirements, and easier maintenance—while significantly increasing filtration capacity.
Large filter area reduces the number of elements
Each filter cartridge is 40″ long and features a very large active filtration area. The elements have an absolute filtration rating, meaning that 99.9% of particles above the specified micron size are removed. This provides high capacity, lower pressure drop, and longer operating time between replacements. For the customer, this translates to fewer elements to manage, easier maintenance, and more efficient operation.
Service friendly and flexible solution
A key advantage of the High Flow elements is their service friendliness. The cartridges can be easily removed and replaced, reducing downtime and making maintenance more efficient.
The system also offers flexibility:
- If the customer later requires a different filtration rating, the elements can be replaced with a different micron size without modifying the filter housing.
- This makes the system future proof and adaptable to changing production requirements.
Part of a complete water treatment solution
The High Flow filter housing represents the third and final stage in a comprehensive delivery from Ditech to the customer. The full water treatment line includes:
- Self cleaning filters for coarse and fine filtration in multiple stages
- High Flow filter housing with absolute elements for optimal process safety
- UV disinfection for chemical‑free inactivation of bacteria and viruses
This combination provides the customer with a robust, flexible, and sustainable solution, tailored to meet the high standards of the food industry.
An investment in sustainability and the environment
High Flow filter elements reduce the need for a large number of cartridges and extend operating time between replacements. This results in less waste, lower transport and storage requirements, and more efficient use of resources. The outcome is a solution that combines high capacity with low environmental impact and reduced operating costs.
